H.P. had severe dental protrusion and a lower lip habit that would have continued to flare the upper anterior teeth. Treatment could have been either with extraction of maxillary premolars or 8 months of wearing a Herbst Appliance followed by non-extraction orthodontic treatment. The Herbst Appliance, of course, is more conservative (no tooth removal) and yields a more beautiful treatment result. The treatment time was 18 months.
